Barrio 2025

This year's Barrio theme is pagkukwento, which means storytelling. Planned and organizer by our Culture Night Coordinators, Joshua Lampa (Logistics) and Tricia Halili-Felse (Culture), Barrio 2025 will take place on November 8.

“Pagkukwento,” or storytelling, is a timeless tradition that has preserved our history, values, and identity across generations. From ancient folktales to everyday stories passed around family tables, pagkukwento lies at the heart of our culture.

“Pagkukwento” is more than a word—it is a powerful tradition that connects our values and people we hold dear. Through music, dance, acting, and fashion, PSA brings to life the stories of our past—stories of struggle and triumph, community and resilience. Beyond entertaining, pagkukwento allows us to share moral lessons and strengthen community bonds.

PSA is excited to honor this art of storytelling at this year’s Barrio, bringing to life the stories that have shaped the Filipino spirit.

Our Show

Barrio features various performances that highlight Filipino culture, expression, and identity. From our dancing and singing to the very clothes we wear, the heart of Barrio is taking pride in our Filipino heritage.

OSU PSA proudly showcases five incredible dance teams made up of our general body members: Sayaw Sa Bangko, Maglalatik, Tinikling, Modern Dance, and Kawayan. Each dance team performs at Barrio. Learn more about our dance teams here. Along with our dancers, Barrio also presents vocal performances; a telenovela written, directed, produced, and acted entirely by our members; and a cultural wear fashion show. This year's Barrio will take place on Saturday, November 8th at the Ohio Union Performance Hall.
